ECDL, TCD
ECDL tutorials are available online here. The library will cover the costs of the tests. There are seven modules in the course, each tested in a separate exam, the exams can be taken in any order. The course can be followed and the tests taken entirely at the candidates own speed. The only limitation is that all the tests must be taken and passed within a three year period. Currently IS Service's exam times are 10 and 11 am on Friday mornings, exams are 45mins long and are held in 200 Pearse St. Further information from ISS's ECDL page or email them at issecdl@tcd.ie.
It is not recommended that a staff member takes more than two tests at once as the library is charged for failed tests also.
Currently staff ready to take one or more tests should:
- Contact the librarian's office to indicate their intent to take the tests so that the office can set up a Skills Card with ISS for the individual.
- The staff member will then be contacted when this has been done and can arrange which test or tests they would like to take and book time slots with ISS using the above email address.
Please remember to inform the librarian's office, for the purposes of flexi-time, if you are going to be attending any training courses or events. A detailed procedure for course application will be available online soon.
