National Disability Authority Conference - Safe Evacuation for All

The National Disability Authority and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) (Fire Risk Management Section) are hosting a one-day conference on “Safe Evacuation for All” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood, Santry on 23rd September, 2009. This event will provide practical advice on planning for the safe evacuation of all building users, including people with disabilities. There will be a number of interesting case studies showing how Irish organisations are dealing with evacuation planning. The conference fee (including lunch) will be €50 per person, with a concession rate of €40 for people with disabilities, staff of disability representative organisations and IOSH members.

College Safety, Health & Welfare Training Schedule 08/09

It is important that College personnel have adequate information, training and instruction to enable them to perform their work activities in a safe manner and to assist in the prevention of injury or ill-health in the workplace. The provision of various types of safety training to staff, postgraduate students and sometimes undergraduate students in College is a mandatory requirement under various pieces of Safety Health & Welfare legislation. The College Safety Office provides a number of various Safety Health and Welfare Training Courses on an annual basis to address these training requirements.

Courses include first aid, fire safety training, manual handling, office safety etc., please see the Director of Buildings website for full listings and further information.
