LAI Informal Networking Evening

The Joint Committees of the A&SL Section and HSLG are holding the next event in the series of Informal Networking Evenings, a Joint Christmas Networking Evening to be held in the Royal Irish Academy on Wednesday, 10th December 2008. 

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Commemorating the LAI’s 80th Anniversary:  Celebrating Librarians Past, Present and  Future’.  The Joint Committees will host a Drinks Reception from 6pm.  Beatrice Doran (past-president of the LAI and formerly Librarian of the RCSI) has kindly accepted our invitation to speak on this year’s theme at 6.30pm. 

The aim of our Informal Networking Evenings is to provide members with the opportunity to meet other librarians and information professionals, and to share news, views and experiences.

College Safety, Health & Welfare Training Schedule 08/09

It is important that College personnel have adequate information, training and instruction to enable them to perform their work activities in a safe manner and to assist in the prevention of injury or ill-health in the workplace. The provision of various types of safety training to staff, postgraduate students and sometimes undergraduate students in College is a mandatory requirement under various pieces of Safety Health & Welfare legislation. The College Safety Office provides a number of various Safety Health and Welfare Training Courses on an annual basis to address these training requirements.

Courses include first aid, fire safety training, manual handling, office safety etc., please see the Director of Buildings website for full listings and further information.
